So keto worked for awhile and then you hit a plateau? Keto makes your brain feel good, but your pudge hasn't budged? Carnivore felt great but you didn't see any weight loss? And what's up with your poop on keto and carnivore diets?
In this podcast I answer a lot of loaded questions about why keto and carnivore may or may not be working for some and what to do about it!
We talk about the north to south digestive process, and how low stomach acid is a pretty big problem these days.
We will also dive into anxiety and depression too. Listen and learn with Jodelle and don't forget to leave us a review to get these podcasts up on the list on iTunes. Your support will help others find this podcast as well.

Could the so called superfoods of today actually be harming you?
Why did Paleo come about and then several years later we needed Auto Immune Paleo?
Do you eat cleaner than anyone you know and yet you have more issues than anyone you know?
What is the Keto Rash and why does it happen? And why aren't you seeing the results you want on a ketogenic diet.
The truth is, many of today's trendy superfoods such as those killer green smoothes, and sweet potato fries could actually be slowing killing you!
And while nutrition isn't the end-all-be-all with regard to optimal health, you should know that certain foods contain toxins called oxalates that could be the reason you are suffering.
I'm excited to have on the show, Sally K Norton to share with you accurate and the latest-up-to-date knowledge on all things oxalates!
Sally Norton is in my opinion the leading educator in oxalates and the damage they can do. With over 35 years of Education and research, Sally holds a Bachelors in the Science in Nutrition from Cornell, a Master of Public Health from Chapel Hill, Clinical consultant on a team incorporating holistic healing into care plans for critically ill patients, a contributing author and editor, a researcher, and a Faculty member of the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Department of Social and Behavioral Health. So she is highly accredited to speak to us today about oxalates. And you can find out all about her awesomeness and check out her super fit physique by visiting www.sallyknorton.com
Sally recommends contacting her directly to learn more about oxalates, and how they could be affecting you and how to engage in a low-oxalate way of eating. She has lots of resources and food lists for her clientele to make going low-oxalate easy and delicious.
She also recommends the VP (Vulvar Pain) Foundation, as a great starting point for learning about oxalates: http://www.thevpfoundation.org
Another great list is found at lowoxalate.info with lots of up to date info there.

Probably one of my favorite podcasts I have uploaded thus far....
Certified Health Coach Nathan Walz shares his thoughts on and expertise on studying dopamine, blue light, and why food is less important than light when it comes to fat loss and weight control!
Nathan has his BA in mathematics and 20 years in corporate America, where he became quite sick with low energy and brain fog, two big topics we discuss in this podcast since it plagues so many.
I love this quote that Nathan gives on his website: “I eventually had enough of being the victim and made a decision to turn my life around. I got my health back on track and worked on turning my confidence and self-worth around.”
The book Nathan mentions is: Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, and here is the promised link: https://www.amazon.com/Breaking-Habit...
D-Minder app mentioned on the podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/d-min...

Learn how to "Mito"-gate the damage that all the coming 5G and other constant EMF exposure is doing to our mitochondria. Scott Compton is the founder of EMF Warriors and joins me to discuss all things necessary to stay healthy, vital, and avoid cancer and other diseases. We discuss the health of the eyes, what blue-light is actually beneficial, how A.M. sunlight heals what ails you, and more!
Eye issues certainly have become more prevalent with the influx of blue light (which is why we are wearing our blue-blockers) and research shows that age-related macular degeneration (AMD) has been on the rise since the rise in LED light usage. Dr. Paul Mabry talks all things meat, alcohol, addiction, insulin resistance and much more!
(***I will go ahead and apologize for the delay in our conversation and if it sounds like I am interrupting him, I promise I didn’t mean to, but wanted to jump ahead so there wouldn’t be even more of a delay in our conversation. We were having trouble hearing each others delay as well. My apologies also to Dr. Mabry!)
Dr. Paul Mabry is a retired family medicine doctor, a writer and producer of several audiobooks, which I will link to in the show notes, an avid hiker, motorcyclist, car guy, tennis medalist, and at 67 years of age does it all on a zero carb meat rich diet!
Additionally, he just celebrated 3 years of eating nothing but meat, eggs, cheese and butter and drinking nothing but water, tea and coffee without milk or
cream.
We talk about:
- Is alcohol a good idea on an all meat diet?
- Cocaine and drug addiction and what it stems from in the brain.
- Is Zero Carb right for everyone?
- Was there really a culture that ate pure meat only?? And why women ate differently from men.
- Why plant foods made Dr. Mabry feel like he can’t stop eating...and how zero carb regulated his appetite
- How digestion affects the brain with regard to his article “Can Your Own Mind Make You Sick”
- His reference to Richard Gevirtz, and breathing to lower stress: https://thequantifiedbody.net/heart-rate-variability-biofeedback-richard-gevirtz/
- Dr. Robert Lustig’s Book, “The Hacking of the American Mind”. https://www.amazon.com/Hacking-American-Mind-Corporate-Takeover/dp/1101982586
Thank you Dr. Mabry so much for this wonderful podcast and I hope to look forward to many more!
You can find Dr. Mabry at www.borntoeatmeat.com
And also on Facebook at “Zero Carb Doc”.

In this passionate podcast, I want to promote the need to stop the bashing that is going on around all the different styles and WOEs that are out there, and talk about how we can come together, perhaps maybe even support each other, even so far as helping each other no matter what our WOE. I divulge that perhaps Nutrition is only 1/3 of human physiology and biology, and there are many other factors of life that make up the 2/3rds we should REALLY focus our attention on. Rather than trying to be "right", let's choose to appreciate our diversity and come together on what really matters with human physiology that we have FORGOTTEN ABOUT.
I think I might blow your mind with what I have to say. In a good way....

Studies on protein and meat based diets:
https://academic.oup.com/aje/advance-...
Dietary Protein and Preservation of Physical Functioning Among Middle-aged and Older Adults in the Framingham Offspring Study
This study demonstrates that dietary protein intakes above the current RDA may slow functional decline in older adults.
And the big myth that meat causes heart disease, Georgia Edes, a prominent researcher helps us understand the truth behind this myth as well…
http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/all-meat...
- studies on vegetarians and vegans -
Beyond meatless, the health effects of vegan diets: findings from the Adventist cohorts.
“Vegetarian diets confer protection against cardiovascular diseases, cardiometabolic risk factors, some cancers and total mortality. Compared to lacto-ovo-vegetarian diets, vegan diets seem to offer additional protection for obesity, hypertension, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular mortality. Males experience greater health benefits than females.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
Vegan triple-ironman (raw vegetables/fruits).
“The vegan athlete showed no signs of dietary deficiencies or impaired health. In comparison with the control group, the vegan athlete showed a higher oxygen intake at the respiratory compensation point. This case demonstrates that even top-class sporting performance, like that of a three-time Ironman, is possible on a vegan diet. Whether a vegan diet offers advantages or disadvantages for the performance of endurance athletes remains an open question.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2... Vegetarian, vegan diets and multiple health outcomes: A systematic review with meta-analysis of observational studies.
“This comprehensive meta-analysis reports a significant protective effect of a vegetarian diet versus the incidence and/or mortality from ischemic heart disease (-25%) and incidence from total cancer (-8%). Vegan diet conferred a significant reduced risk (-15%) of incidence from total cancer.”
What about Both?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2...
Isocaloric Diets High in Animal or Plant Protein Reduce Liver Fat and Inflammation in Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes.
In a prospective study of patients with type 2 diabetes, we found diets high in protein (either animal or plant) significantly reduced liver fat independently of body weight, and reduced markers of insulin resistance and hepatic necroinflammation. The diets appear to mediate these changes via lipolytic and lipogenic pathways in adipose tissue

Dr. Zsofia Clemens holds her PhD, and is a nuerobiologist as well as a clinical researcher specializing in nutrition, nutritional therapy with regard to brain research. She is the senior researcher of the Paleomedicina Hungary Research Group where her clinic treats patients exclusively with what she calls the "true paleolithic ketogenic diet" (PKD). In her amazing research and how I found her on punned and research-gate, she has published over 40 research articles with more than 1100 citations.
I reached out to Zsofia because I loved how passionate you can tell she is with regard to helping us understand the benefits of meat to human physiology and biology. I was so thrilled when she agreed to come on so I could incite her as to her thoughts on an all meat diet from a female perspective and someone who has been doing it now for over 5 years.
Dr. Clemens goes into some brilliant concepts and research that she has done about everything from intestinal permeability and even insulin resistance. Plus, she fills us in on what her typical day of all meat eating looks like!:)
And she really helps us understand the importance of calling it a "meat-fat" diet too, recognizing that your fat intake is paramount with regard to the protein you are consuming.
Whether you are carnivore or not, this is good information from a wonderful source of information.
